# How to show prayer times on a TV in your mosque

Which device to put behind the TV for a mosque prayer time screen, what each one can do, and what we have and have not tested, as of November 2026.

Connect a small device to the TV by HDMI and open your mosque's Salah Point link in its browser. A spare PC, laptop or mini PC is the only route we have tested. If your TV is from 2023 or later, try its own browser first, as that costs nothing.

## Which device

| Device | Fits if | Rough price | Starts by itself | Keeps time with no internet | Tested |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| [PC or laptop](/resources/computer) | You have a spare one | Often already there | Yes, once set up | Yes, it has a clock battery | Yes, in Chrome, also offline |
| [Mini PC](/resources/mini-pc) | You want it hidden behind the TV | Varies | Yes, once set up | Usually, check the model | Same browser, no mini PC tried |
| [Raspberry Pi](/resources/raspberry-pi) | Someone is comfortable with Linux | About €100 | Yes, once set up | Only with a clock module, or a Pi 5 with its battery | No |
| [Android TV box](/resources/android-tv-box) | You already own one | About €100 to €200 | Depends on the box | Only with a real-time clock | No. App coming soon. |
| [Fire TV](/resources/fire-tv) | You already own one | About €40 | No | Not checked | No. App coming soon. |
| [Smart TV browser](/resources/smart-tv-browser) | Your TV is from 2023 or later | €0 | Usually not | Not checked | No |

Rough prices for the Pi, box and Fire TV are from [Masjidbox's device guide](https://masjidbox.com/blog/mosque-digital-signage-the-complete-guide), read 3 November 2026. The clock note for boxes is from [Tawkit's help](https://www.tawkit.net/en/help/choose-device-for-mosque/).

## Chromecast

A plain Chromecast has no browser. Google's help says you can [cast a Chrome tab from a computer](https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/3228332), so the computer stays on, on the same Wi-Fi. Connect that computer by cable instead: it also runs offline. Chromecast with Google TV counts as an [Android TV box](/resources/android-tv-box).

## Three checks on any device

1. Open `tv.salahpoint.com` in its browser. It should ask which mosque to show. A blank page means the browser is too old.
2. Open your link with internet, wait a minute, cut the network, restart and open it again. Your times should return with a small "Offline" label.
3. Cut the power with the internet off, then start again. If the clock is wrong, the countdown is wrong too.

Then set your [calculation method](/resources/prayer-time-calculation-methods) and [iqama](/resources/iqama-times). More on [the screen](/mosque-tv-display). Not registered? [Register your mosque](/register).
