# Run your mosque screen on an Android TV box

An Android TV box can only run Salah Point through a browser for now, and we have not tested that. An app is coming soon. How to check whether your box can do it.

Today an Android TV box can only run Salah Point in a web browser, and we have not tested that on any box. Our app for Android TV is coming soon. If you must buy something now, a [mini PC](/resources/mini-pc) is the safer choice. This also covers Chromecast with Google TV.

## Check your box

1. Install a browser from the [Play Store on your TV](https://support.google.com/androidtv/answer/6121463). We have tried none, so we name none.
2. Open `tv.salahpoint.com`. It should ask which mosque to show. A blank page means the browser is too old: it must be built on Chromium 92 or newer, and support ES modules, service workers and localStorage.
3. Open your link from **Link and setup** with internet, and wait a minute.
4. Turn off the network, restart the box and open the link again. Your times should return with a small "Offline" label. An error page means that browser did not store the app.

## Settings

- **Screen saver:** on Google TV it is under [Settings > System > Ambient mode](https://support.google.com/googletv/answer/10070821). [TCL's video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4fJL1dUQok) shows this on its own TVs (TCL Support, 90 seconds). Google says the screen saver [can't be turned off](https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6097224) on its streaming devices, so check whether it covers the browser.
- **Time:** turn on automatic date and time.
- **Network:** use a cable if the box has a port.

## What stays awkward in a browser

- **No automatic start.** Someone has to open it after a power cut. Android also [limits apps opening by themselves](https://developer.android.com/guide/components/activities/background-starts).
- **The clock.** [Tawkit's help](https://www.tawkit.net/en/help/choose-device-for-mosque/) advises a box with a real-time clock, as the time can otherwise be wrong after a power cut. The screen depends on this clock too.

Need a store app today? Other products have one, and that is a fair reason to choose them. All devices: [how to show prayer times on a TV](/resources/show-prayer-times-on-tv).
